Description:

SaskEnergy is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to join our team. The Facilities Technologist assists and coordinates building maintenance, renovation and construction projects and upgrades. This includes developing specification sheets, obtaining quotes, writing proposals, developing the scope of work and schedules, contracting for local services and monitoring and reporting the progress of these projects.

Position Details

  • Union - This position is permanent full time.

Core Responsibilities

Maintain Buildings and Properties

  • Lead and facilitate standard, small to medium sized capital and general maintenance projects, based on planned preventative programs and emergency requirements to ensure building assets are safe, productive and efficient, with cost effective results. This includes:
  • Prepare Scope of Work Documents for small to medium construction and renovation projects.
  • Produce drawings in AutoCAD and update as-built drawings, as per current standards system.
  • Prepare requests for quotations and tenders, receive supplier quotes, evaluate products offered for compliance to specifications, ensuring delivery meets construction or installation schedule.
  • Issue Contract for Local Services, in accordance with department procedures.
  • Provide cost estimates and quotes.
  • Communicate with suppliers and departments impacted by the project to coordinate renovation schedules.
  • Provide supervision and assignment of work activities to external supply chain contractors and vendors.
  • Participate in the post project review, to address any issues.
  • Assist in processing invoices.
  • Prepare and maintain project files.

Move Coordination

  • Assist with the planning of staff and furniture moves, including updating drawings and providing space proposals for management. This includes:
  • Produce drawings in AutoCAD and update as-built drawings, as per current standards system.
  • Issue Contract for Local Services, in accordance with department procedures.
  • Provide cost estimates and quotes.
  • Communicate with movers, Corporate Services and Systems to coordinate move schedules.
  • Participate in the post move review, to address any issues.
  • Assist in processing invoices.
  • Prepare and maintain project files.

Workgroup Support and Administration

  • Provide workgroup support and administrative duties. This includes:
  • Prepare Scope of Work Documents.
  • Prepare requests for quotations and tenders, receive supplier quotes, evaluate products offered for compliance to specifications, ensuring delivery meets construction or installation schedule.
  • Issue Contract for Local Services, in accordance with department procedures.
  • Produce drawings in AutoCAD and update as-built drawings, as per current standards system.
  • Provide cost estimates and quotes for department projects.
  • Maintain and update property lease files to ensure building databases have most current lease information.
  • Receive and respond to customers requests for maintenance and repair of SaskEnergy and TransGas People Buildings.
  • Assist in processing Buildings and Security invoices.
  • Prepare and maintain project files.
  • Update weekly reports, temperature checks, occupancy reports and project manuals.

Security Administration

  • Update and maintain Security Project spreadsheets and assist with Security Projects. This includes:
  • Prepare Scope of Work Documents for security projects.
  • Produce drawings in AutoCAD and update as-built drawings, as per current standards system.
  • Prepare requests for quotations and receive supplier quotes.
  • Issue Contract for Local Services, in accordance with department procedures.
  • Assist in processing invoices.
  • Prepare and maintain project files.

Qualifications

Education

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Architectural Building and Technology Diploma, from a recognized institution.
  • Eligible for membership with Saskatchewan Applied Science Technicians and Technologists (SASTT).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.

Experience

  • One (1) year experience in building management and/or construction project management.
  • Two (2) years practical experience in office design and space planning.
  • Four (4) years practical experience with AutoCAD.

Alternative Education/Experience

  • Computer Aided Design/Drafting Technology Diploma, from a recognized institution.
  • Eligible for membership with Saskatchewan Applied Science Technicians and Technologists (SASTT).
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license (copy must accompany job applications).
  • Two (2) years experience in building management and/or construction project management.
  • Two (2) years practical experience in office design and space planning.
  • Four (4) years practical experience with AutoCAD.

Additional Information

  • This job is subject to callout situations.
  • Travel, including overnight stays away from bid headquarters is required on occasion.
  • This job requires extended work hours.
