What we are looking for:
Reporting to the Senior Vice President, Chief Accounting Officer, this role will be responsible for the Company’s monthly financial performance dashboard for the Executive Committee, quarterly presentations to the Board of Directors, and preparing the Company’s Management, Discussion & Analysis (MD&A) on a quarterly basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing strategic partnerships with cross functional divisional leaders to assist them with business management and providing management reporting insights that are timely and useful in making key business decisions. This individual will also be responsible for supporting the year-end audit such as annual goodwill impairment assessment and other special projects as they arise. This role will work very closely with regional Finance teams, Investor Relations, Treasury, Tax, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), so strong collaboration skills are essential.
The role is based in Toronto. Travel will be required to Montreal (Head office) as needed.
Your responsibilities:
- Preparation and review of the Company’s monthly and quarterly financial performance dashboard for the Executive Committee;
- Preparation and review of the Company’s Board of Directors presentation on a quarterly basis;
- Preparation of analysis and disclosure for the quarterly and annual Management Discussion and Analysis (MD&A);
- Prepare and review presentations for senior management and the Audit Committee on a quarterly basis or as required;
- Review of certain complex accounting and disclosures required for the quarterly and annual financial statements;
- Assist with ad-hoc technical accounting and financial disclosure matters, performing research and analysis and presenting findings;
- Partnering with the Corporate FP&A team and the divisional finance teams to understanding key operating and financial results;
- Working closely with investor relations and FP&A to support the completion of the quarterly financial results press release, annual report, Annual Information Form (AIF) and Management Information Circular (MIC);
- Act as a business partner to key leaders of corporate support functions such as Tax, Treasury Legal, HR and explaining their financial results compared to budget on a monthly basis;
- Special projects as required.
Must have requirements to be successful in this role:
- Bachelor degree in Business or Accounting;
- CPA designation with “Big 4” accounting firm experience;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a public company environment is an asset;
- Strong understanding of consolidation process in a in a multi-currency global environment;
- Experience working with IFRS and OSC continuous disclosure requirements;
- Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills;
- Strong skills in Microsoft Excel (i.e. Macros, financial modelling etc) and PowerPoint presentation skills;
- High attention to detail and quality of work, while having the ability to succinctly “explain the story”;
- Excellent project management skills including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple deliverables concurrently in a demanding environment;
- Strong strategic skills including the ability to leverage resources (people, processes, departments, tools) and collaborate to complete objectives effectively and efficiently;
- Proven ability to confidently and effectively interact with all levels of the organization and to build strong working relationships in a team-oriented, deadline driven environment;
- Experience using SAP and/or Workiva would be an asset;
- Experience in Financial Service or Asset Management.
