Fire Safety Manager
We are looking for a leader to drive and develop our fire safety procedures and implement our Fire Safety Action plans at our North & South European mills in our Wood Products division.
Your role will be to continuously improve fire safety through investments, process improvements and by increasing awareness about risks, hazards and safe working methods. The focus is to align and intensify our efforts in Fire Safety in all units of to reach our ambitious Safety targets.

Your main responsibilities as a Fire Safety Manager include:

  • Drive the division level Fire Safety development according to Safety Roadmap and yearly Action plans in the division
  • Support the local Management Teams and Fire Safety experts with Fire Safety development
  • Support project management in investment projects related to fire safety issues
  • Lead the implementation, development and harmonization of the processes
  • Coordinate fire safety audits and inspections
  • Support investigation of fire incidents, near-miss incidents to determine causes and install preventive measures
  • Enforce compliance with the rules and regulations that apply to the mill based on:
  • Applicable local & international fire safety laws and regulations
  • Group and division-level Fire Safety procedures
  • Output and findings from, e.g., insurance company inspections and recommendations, risk assessments, and incident investigations
  • Visit the mills regularly e.g. audits, inspections, training, observing, coaching and investigating

Who are we looking for?
We are looking for a Fire Safety professional with +5 years of experience working in fire safety matters in industrial field. You have bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. We expect you to have thorough knowledge of applicable regulations and rules, knowledge about best Fire Safety practices, experience of leading continuous improvement initiatives to reduce fire safety risks and the ability to raise Fire Safety awareness. Background in change and lean management is seen as an asset.
As a person, you are proactive and driven to make things happen with a solution- and business-oriented approach. You will get the team and organization to achieve results together with a coaching and inclusive leadership style. Naturally, you have excellent communication and collaboration skills, and an ability to establish relationships, and influence people at all levels and across organizational boundaries. We expect you to be able to communicate fluently in English and Finnish or Swedish due to networking and training of personnel. This position requires willingness to travel.
We are flexible with the location in our Mills at Sweden; Ala and Gruvön or in Finland; Joutseno, Varkaus and Kemi or any Stora Enso office in Sweden or Finland example Helsinki or Stockholm. In this position you will report to Head of Safety, Wood Products division.
