QUALIFICATIONS
- Candidates must have a QQI honours Level 8 degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Food Science or a Food Safety related discipline.
- A PhD degree in Analytical Chemistry with documented evidence of experience of using LC-MS/MS or LC-HRMS in the measurement of residues or contaminants in food.
Note: While a PhD is an essential requirement for this post, equivalent research experience may be deemed acceptable solely at the discretion of the Director of Teagasc
- At least two years experience post PhD working in the area of residue analysis or chemical contaminant research is highly desirable.
SKILLS
- Design, development, validation and troubleshooting of analytical methods.
- Research skills: literature reviewing, experimental design, data management, statistical analysis and experiment implementation.
- Ability to initiate and lead a research programme.
- Capacity to successfully develop collaborative research links with national and International research organizations.
- Strategic awareness, innovation & change management skills.
- Engaging and consultative leadership skills that demonstrate best practice in people and programme management.
- Dissemination skills: verbal presentation/communication skills, scientific (peer-reviewed journals) and technical writing skills.
- Proven record of scientific communications.
- Aptitude for multidisciplinary approaches.
KNOWLEDGE
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience of veterinary drug and mycotoxin residue analysis.
- Expert knowledge of Chromatography, Mass Spectrometry, and chromatographic software.
- Expert knowledge of EU Food Safety legislation and method validation legislations.
- Knowledge of emerging areas of residue and chemical contaminant research.
