Description:

ABOUT US

National Grid is at the heart of the UK energy network keeping people connected and society moving. We develop, own and maintain the physical infrastructure, such as pylons and cables needed to move the electricity generated from windfarms and power sources around the country. Every time a phone is plugged in, or a switch is turned on, we’ve played a part, connecting you to the electricity you need - and we’re leading the transformation towards a greener future, dreaming bigger to bring a more affordable energy future to everyone.
But it’s our people that provide our true superpower. They drive and sustain our growth, their unique differences only making us stronger. But it’s no small feat – and we need the best to join us in our mission. So, join us and power the future of energy.

Responsibilities:

Advancing our technology capabilities is vital to National Grid’s ability to realise our vision to be at the heart of a clean, fair and affordable energy future. Our IT&Digital function is partnering with our business and using new technologies to help improve how we do our job – through cloud computing, artificial intelligence or machine learning, to name just a few.
We nurture and connect our people by integrating data and AI capabilities across the organisation.
We have a variety of opportunities across our IT and Digital organisation. You’ll get to work on new and exciting products, use up-to-date tech stack and actively contribute to the success of the team by innovating, participating in technical discussions, and contributing to the development of products that will transform the organization.

Depending on the specific role, your key accountabilities may include:

  • Deliver new applications or frameworks in the form of novel software and hardware solutions.
  • Leverage and deploy existing software and hardware as part of existing IT assets.
  • Support the development of investment papers and technical solution proposals.
  • Aid the assurance of design deliverables to ensure workable solutions are relayed to service delivery functions.
  • Assist in the development of systems and applications through writing structured code.
