VACANCY: GROUP CONTENT MANAGER

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A relevant post-graduate degree.
  • A project management and/or management qualification would be a plus.
  • Experience in managing large budgets.
  • Experience of overseeing a team developing materials for a significant school textbook submission process.
  • Experience in strategic management and product development.
  • Experience of working as a school textbook publisher.
  • Knowledge of the principles of learning and teaching in traditional as well as digital environments.
  • Well-rooted understanding of copyright and contracts.
  • Deep understanding of the South African educational landscape.
  • Knowledge of the Southern African educational landscape would be a plus.
  • Deep understanding of the process and intricacies of the school textbook educational publishing process.
  • Thorough understanding of and experience in the complete book publishing supply chain.
  • Experience and ability to create and maintain networks across the education publishing supply chain.
  • An in-depth understanding of current software used in the book-making process.
  • Experience of developing and conducting workshops and training with teachers and education department officials.
  • Skilled in advanced generative AI prompting techniques to achieve desired outcomes across applications.
  • Exceptional skills in using the Microsoft Suite (a test will be conducted).
  • A Code 8/B driver’s licence in good standing.

Responsibilities:

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

We are seeking a Group Content Manager to join our team and drive strategic content development. This role is pivotal in contributing to Via Afrika’s performance and growth through strategic management, product development management, and staff management.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and maintain a front and backlist of titles that will ensure the current and future profitability of the company.
  • Manage and develop Via Afrika Group content development staff to ensure optimal performance, and high engagement levels, ensuring staff meet all KPIs and deadline requirements.
  • Drive and oversee strategic content development for the Via Afrika Group, ensuring the timeous delivery of innovative quality product aligned with the relevant curricula within set budgets and timeframes.
  • Provide strategic input across all divisional functions to enhance company performance, profit margins and growth.
  • Research and analyse international and local developments and trends in education and educational content as well is in related digital technologies, resulting in concrete proposals.
