JOB SUMMARY

Oldham College is seeking an experienced and dedicated HSE Manager to lead health, safety, and environmental sustainability efforts across the College’s diverse operations.
Reporting directly to the Head of Estates, this role involves shaping and implementing Health and Safety strategies, policies, and compliance frameworks, ensuring the College remains a safe and compliant learning and working environment.

Responsibilities:

In this critical role, the HSE Manager will develop and drive the Health and Safety strategy, aligning it with legislative requirements and the College’s strategic priorities. They will oversee Health and Safety policies and the implementation of an agenda that promotes a culture of safety, positively impacting students, staff, and visitors. Responsibilities also include conducting audits, assessing College-wide safety performance, and identifying opportunities for improvement, thus ensuring legal compliance and adherence to best practices.
Reporting and compliance are central to the role, with the HSE Manager preparing comprehensive reports for governance, maintaining relations with regulatory authorities, and ensuring the College’s policies for critical incidents, fire safety, and risk management are up-to-date and rigorously implemented.
A key part of the role involves fostering communication around Health and Safety across departments, delivering training, guidance, and tools to encourage safe practices. They will also oversee the College’s risk assessment processes, analyse incidents and accident data, and provide insights to prevent future risks.
