Description:

THE PROJECTS

  • TII Major Rural Road Schemes (Phase 1-4) working for Transport Infrastructure Ireland and local authorities;
  • Design and Build / PPP projects working for leading Irish and overseas contractors.
  • Rural and Urban Road Improvement Schemes
  • Active Travel projects in urban settings and rural Greenways, Public Transport Priority Projects and Development of TII Design Standards and associated research projects with European partners such as Conference of European Directors of Road (CEDR);

Desirable Experience:

  • Geometric Design experience (Open Roads Designer, Civil 3D or equivalent).
  • Drainage Design (MicroDrainage or similar).
  • TII Publications (Standards and Technical).
  • Traffic signs and road markings (Traffic Signs Manual).
  • Vehicle Restraint Systems.
  • ArcMap GIS.
  • Road Safety Audits

We currently have a requirement for a Project Engineer to join our Roads team in Ireland.
The successful candidate will work within the Transport Infrastructure team delivering a range of rural and urban design projects including major TII road projects, Minor TII road improvement projects, as well as urban street design incorporating Public Transport and Active Travel and Greenway projects.
The successful candidate will gain invaluable experience within an established consultancy with flexible working options between home and office. They will be involved in a diverse and challenging range of projects for high profile clients within Ireland and further afield. This role also offers the successful candidate long-term opportunities for career development.

DOES THIS ROLE INSPIRE YOU?

We’re looking for someone who is passionate about Transport Infrastructure.

We also value:

  • Level 8 Degree in Civil Engineering or similar.
  • 3-5 years post graduate experience, preferably in a consultancy environment.
  • Working towards chartered professional status.
  • Technical Report writing.
  • Working knowledge of Road Design Aspects (Geometric/ Drainage/ TSRM/ Pavement etc.)
  • AutoCAD.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to effectively manage your time and deliver projects in a timely manner.

A role in the Highways team will include opportunities to input into design and coordination, often liaising with other multi-disciplinary contributors to projects. You will be required to deliver projects to the required technical standards in a timely manner, reporting to the team leader or project manager as appropriate. You will have experience in planning and design of road schemes including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, statutory processes, preparation of contract documents, contact administration and construction supervision.

  • Prepare technical designs for projects in accordance with approved design standards and procedures in line with the delivery programme.
  • Undertake research to inform updates to existing and the development of new national design standards and policy.
  • Ensure that relevant legislation, regulations, policies, strategies, and technical guidance is interpreted, followed and communicated across the team with guidance from senior members of staff.
  • Implement the appropriate QA procedures for all deliverables and ensure compliance with H&S requirements; and
  • Communicate effectively and in a team environment with a broad cross-section of individuals. This would typically include but is not limited to; roads and streets team colleagues and project managers, other internal design disciplines, clients and contractors
