Description:

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

The Housekeeping Supervisor is a hands-on role, assisting the housekeeping department by maintaining a high standard of cleanliness for the hotel. Responsible for maximizing guest satisfaction and loyalty, by overseeing the cleanliness and overall appearance of the interior and exterior of the hotel, guest rooms, and corridors. They are passionate about serving others and working as a team with associates from all departments.
This qualified candidate must have open/ flexible availability; the hours of work are full-time (30+ hours per week) include evenings, weekends, and holidays.

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be able to legally work in Canada
  • Must speak fluent English
  • No formal education required
  • Prior experience in supervisory role in hotel setting an asset
  • Intermediate computer skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Able to multi-task and shift priorities in a fast paced environment

Responsibilities:

  • Follows all established and future front office Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Accountable for the housekeeping department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Ensures the highest standards of cleanliness in accordance with housekeeping Standard Operating Procedures and Key Deliverables.
  • Liaises with the Front Office and Maintenance department in related tasks such as room status, VIP’s, and room maintenance work requests.
  • Inspects and passes rooms in a timely, efficient manner. Updates the code status for the Front Office.
  • Assists with administration including inventory control, closing discrepancy reports, and daily arrival list.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs of the hotel. Notes any deficiencies and follows up as required.
  • Ensures arrivals are blocked and checked on a daily basis.
  • Secures keys in accordance with the hotel’s key management policy.
  • Reports all performance concerns to the supervisor.
  • Assists with training new associates according to standards.
  • Checks a minimum of 50 rooms to ensure Quality Standards are consistently met.
  • Ensures all associates are working safely on the floors.
  • Assists with monthly cleaning programs and lost/found items with policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Participates in monthly communication meetings with the housekeeping team.
  • Participates as part of the Health & Safety Committee for the property
  • Reports all concerns related to Maintenance, Health and safety, Security or Suspicious circumstances (including smells/sights and sound) immediately.
  • Adheres to all Nova standards, including Hygiene and Grooming, Health and Safety, Fire Safety and Guest Interactions.
  • Other projects/duties as assigned.
