The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Human Resources Supervisor to provide a critical role within Corrections Victoria.
About the Business Unit

Corrections Victoria is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria’s prison system and Post Sentence Scheme. As a service agency within the Department of Justice & Community Safety (DJCS), Corrections Victoria develops and implements policies, programs and services that ensure the safe and secure containment of individuals, and that seek to rehabilitate people in our care by addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
About the Role
The HR Supervisor will report to the Prison Services Manager, however, will work in collaboration with other People, Safety, Culture and Communications team members, such as the HR Business Partner (BP) to share best practices and knowledge capital.
The HR Supervisor provides a responsive and proactive service on a range of operational and strategic human resources related matters including employment conditions, recruitment and retention of staff, workforce planning, performance management, learning and development, employee relations, dispute resolution, equity and diversity, occupational health and safety and workers compensation.
The HR Supervisor is also responsible for undertaking a range of responsibilities across a broad range of human resources functions, operating across a number of those functions. In this role, you will foster the desired organisational culture by modelling agreed values and behaviours and contribute to the achievement of the respective Corporate Plan, Business Plan and Workforce Strategy priorities through coordinating the right people in the right roles working with the right systems and processes and engaging and collaborating with external and internal stakeholders.
Responsibilities:
SOME OF YOUR DUTIES WILL INCLUDE:
- Provide consultancy advice, guidance and solutions to management and staff on a broad range of human resource issues including policies, frameworks, processes, employment conditions, performance management, OH&S, recruitment, learning and development, workforce planning, talent management, succession planning and HR legislation, seeking support from local HR BP where required.
- Manage a small team of staff who provide HR administration support.
- Provide support to the HR BP with regard to industrial and employee relations issues.

- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in generalist human resources functions
- Experience in providing advice on workplace matters, performance management, workplace change and employee development.
