JOB DESCRIPTION
This position is part of Husky’s Architecture team. A key objective of this team is enabling the alignment to and full support of corporate digital transformation initiatives by providing future state planning and road mapping, governance and standard setting, concept development, solution design and facilitation.
The Solution Architect serves as a connecting piece between enterprise architecture and technical architecture. The Solution Architect designs and delivers solutions that align with enterprise architecture standards and contributes to advancing the architecture toward the target state.
Responsibilities
Solution Design and Architecture
- Create architectural solutions that address business needs, including both high-level and detailed designs.
- Create architectural documentation and artifacts following established methodologies, standards and patterns.
- Evaluate design approaches, make architectural recommendations, and implement improvements to testing strategies.
- Prepare and present solution architecture documentation and artifacts to the architecture review board (ARB).
Technical Leadership
- Provide direction and support to development teams during the project lifecycle to ensure alignment with the architectural vision.
- Work closely with lead developers to ensure that the architectural design is refined into an appropriate technical design.
- Promote and enforce best practices in design, coding, and performance.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Work closely with business leaders, project managers, and other stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure solutions meet business objectives and requirements.
- Clearly communicate architectural decisions, plans, goals, and strategies to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Work closely with application, network, and security teams to ensure their requirements are reflected appropriately in the solution architecture.
Integration Management
- Design and manage the integration of various systems, ensuring seamless interaction and interoperability.
- Oversee the development of APIs and integration points between systems.
Risk Management
- Proactively identify potential risks related to architecture and technology.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks and ensure the robustness and reliability of the solutions.
Quality Assurance
- Conduct code and design reviews to ensure adherence to architectural standards and best practices.
- Ensure rigorous testing and validation of solutions to meet quality standards.
- Perform architectural reviews/audits on implemented solutions.
- Debug and create performance analysis on implemented solutions.
Architecture Practice
- Collaborate with the architecture community of practice to ensure that their solutions align with target architectures and technology roadmaps.
- Collaborate closely with other architects to create and maintain reusable architecture artifacts and solution assets in a central architecture repository (e.g. principles, reference architectures, patterns).
Requirements
Critical Capabilities
- Good understanding of business architecture, capabilities and processes.
- Good knowledge of architecture design and best practices.
- Proficiency in architecture frameworks, modeling standards and techniques (e.g., TOGAF, Zachman, ArchiMate, UML).
- Good understanding of issues related to cloud, data, and interoperability.
- Knowledge of integration patterns and frameworks.
- Knowledgeable about all phases of the software development life cycle and solution delivery for web, client-server, and cloud-based solutions.
- Experience in API design and security practices.
- Experience architecting cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure is an asset.
- Demonstrated knowledge of DevSecOps processes and tool chains and processes.
- Excellent analytical skills and techniques, systems thinking and design thinking.
- Strong communication skills and assertiveness, confident appearance in front of stakeholders.
- Experience in international environments and matrix organizations.

- Fluency in English (B2 certificate level).
Education
- Bachelor’s or post-graduate degree in IT, computer science, software engineering, or equivalent.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience architecting solutions on large-scale initiatives involving complex topology, design for high availability, scalability, and security.
- Proven track record of work experience as a solution architect.
- Certificates to demonstrate knowledge and competency.
