Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

The Data Science Institute (DSI) at Imperial College London is seeking an Institute Manager to provide maternity cover for up to 6 months, to manage the professional operations and research projects of the Institute. The Institute Manager will report directly to the Institute’s Director to lead the operational team to run the day-to-day operation.

WHAT YOU WOULD BE DOING

Research Management

  • Manage ongoing research projects at the Institute, supporting academic staff with resource planning, budget management, recruitment, procurement, and project delivery.
  • Support academic staff, research staff and external partners in identifying and securing new opportunities for research collaborations.
  • Coordinate and support research grant applications for the Institute.

Operational Management

  • Oversee day-to-day operations at the Institute, supporting the Director and working with internal teams to deliver key initiatives across research, education, innovation, and recruitment.
  • Manage of the Institute’s finances and resources, including both core and research accounts.
  • Coordinate with academics and support staff to synchronize Institute activities. Report Institute activities and achievements to university management and sponsors as directed.
  • Line-manage the Institute’s operations team and organize Institute operations meetings.

Communications and Engagement

  • Act as the Institute’s primary contact for internal and external communications.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams (e.g., academics, researchers, research services, finance, HR) and external partners (e.g., collaborators, funders).
