JOB DESCRIPTION:

Reporting to the Manager, Sustainability & Audit Services, as the Junior Waste Audit Technician, you will be apart of a team of sustainability consultants, auditors, and data analysts while we work closely with our clients across Canada to attain their goals and targets related to waste and resource management. This includes supporting our Waste Audit Division and participating in a variety of municipal, institutional, commercial, and industrial waste audits.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Degree or Diploma in Environmental Studies, Sustainability or related field.
  • Experience in the waste and recycling auditing industry, or related field is considered an asset.
  • The ability to work as a part of a fast-paced team full of passionate environmentalists.
  • Some knowledge of waste auditing and sustainability compliance regulations considered an asset.
  • Intermediate to high level experience with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to complete detailed analytics and reports.
  • Presentation skills to deliver engaging and informative presentations.
  • Ability to establish and build healthy working relations and partnerships with clients, peers and external stakeholders.
  • Excellent organizational, time management and project management skills.
  • Self-driven, independent thinker who is highly motivated and possesses an intrinsic passion for quality and process improvement.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects with strict deadlines.
  • Willingness to travel often. Must have access to reliable transportation with valid Ontario G-Class driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract.
  • Willingness to drive company Sprinter Van.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate and meet weekly with the Team Lead, Waste Audit Operations.
  • Participate in frequent waste audit fieldwork throughout Canada at various facility types including industrial, commercial, municipal and institutional.

    o Weekly travel within southern Ontario and the potential for 1-2 overnight and/or out of province trips per month.

  • Collect fieldwork data in a clear and organized manner, and ensure digital copies are uploaded through Waste Solutions’ online channels within set timelines.

  • Assist when necessary in preparing for fieldwork including determining waste management streams on site, regional acceptance criteria, contamination levels, and waste audit set-up.
  • Maintain administrative duties including but not limited to expense submissions, CV creation, time tracking, and photo logs.
  • Follow Waste Solutions health and safety protocols when completing fieldwork.
