YOUR OPPORTUNITY

Morrison Hershfield now Stantec provides planning, design and construction administration services for municipal and infrastructure-related projects. We are currently seeking a Junior Inspector to conduct fieldwork to complement our team in the Toronto office. The Junior Inspector will play a lead role in the delivery of environmental assessment and functional/preliminary and detail design assignments primarily for public sector clients. Due to expanding business opportunities in Ontario and elsewhere within the company, this position offers growth in the areas of technical/professional development and project management.

YOUR CAPABILITIES AND CREDENTIALS

  • Previous engineering/construction experience is an asset
  • Prior experience working on MTO projects
  • Able to work on weekends and nights, as required
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to work well in a team environment
  • Proficiency with MS Office
  • A valid Ontario ‘G’ Driver’s License and access to a vehicle

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

A Post Secondary degree or diploma in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering
Designation as determined by OACETT as a Road Construction Junior Inspector (rcji) Technology/Technician or currently as an engineering university/college student
Either registration as a Professional Engineer or Engineer-in-Training with PEO as a Technician or Technologist with O.A.C.E.T.T.

Responsibilities:

  • Carries out inspection activities to ensure conformance
  • Conducts site surveys, obtaining relevant information, equipment, and materials
  • Searches for physical survey evidence (building ties, monuments, fences, etc.) and determines whether or not existing survey evidence suffices
  • Obtains additional survey evidence as necessary and determines when enough information has been obtained
  • Analyzes situations or data from which answers are easily obtained using standard procedure and practice
  • Assists in compiling field data in report form for review of project designer
  • Assists checkers in collecting delivery tickets from truck operators as material is delivered to the site
  • Conducts ongoing tonnage checks
  • Ensures all tare and final weight measurements are properly completed.
