Torfaen Pupil Referral Unit (PRU) wish to appoint a highly motivated Key worker with ALN experience as soon as possible. This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive team. The role will be to deliver tuition online and in person to small groups of pupils. The subject areas will be English and Maths up to GCSE level.
Torfaen PRU provides education and learning experiences for secondary aged pupils who do not attend a mainstream school and require additional learning support due to social, emotional and/or behaviour difficulties. The referral unit service is part of the Local Authority’s specialist provision and is comprised of three bases. In addition, we provide short term tuition and medical tuition services as appropriate. Out bases are situated in Pontypool, New Inn and Abersychan and there is a need for staff to travel between sites. We have excellent links with Careers Wales and Coleg Gwent. Torfaen Pupil Referral Unit is committed to ensuring all pupils have access to education and learning experiences that is caring and supports individual social and emotional needs.

The post holder may be required to undertake other duties, appropriate to the post required by the senior leadership team, this may include for example, supporting in class, attending school trips and transporting pupils.

We are looking for a Key worker who is able to:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver English and maths lesson online and in person to pupils
  • Assess pupils work and report on pupil progress as per the school calendar
  • Facilitate the pupil induction process for pupils referred for tuition
  • Deliver interventions and conduct assessments
  • Prepare One page profiles with targets for all tuition pupils
  • Conduct weekly check ins with parents and carers
  • Participate in the quality assurance processes of the school
  • Engage in professional learning linked to the role and the needs of Torfaen PRU
