KNOWLEDGE MOBILIZATION SPECIALIST
On behalf of our client, Procom is seeking a Knowledge Mobilization Specialist for an 8 month contract working remotely.
Knowledge Mobilization Specialist Responsibilities
- The Knowledge Mobilization Specialist’s primary responsibility is to help researchers maximize research impact by building culture, capacity, and connections for knowledge mobilization. They will serve as a clear point of contact for researchers and a proactive internal partner across units.
- Research Impact Planning (30%): connect and collaborate with researchers during project ideation to identify appropriate outcomes and impact goals and to develop actional knowledge mobilization plans that extend research reach and facilitate research impact. Build individual and institutional impact literacy.
- Knowledge Mobilization Advising (30%): provide researchers with project and activity specific guidance throughout the research lifecycle, including during the development of research funding applications.
Projects and Capacity Building (30%): offer professional learning opportunities and enable access to expertise, tools, and resources to build knowledge mobilization capacity at the university, as well as drive the inclusion of high-quality data related to research impact and media engagement content within our research information management system. Also, project management of portfolio relevant initiatives.Wayfinding (10%): assist researchers navigate the knowledge mobilization and research development ecosystems across the Canadian research landscape.
Knowledge Mobilization Specialist Mandatory Skills
- Minimum undergraduate degree in a relevant field (e.g., Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, Media Studies, English) with complementary professional experience.
- Subject matter expertise in areas related to knowledge engagement, integrated knowledge mobilization, uptake, and implementation for academic and public audiences.
- Knowledge and experience with Tri-Agency (SSHRC, NSERC, and CIHR) grant programs, with a focus on requirements, challenges, and opportunities for knowledge mobilization.
- Minimum 3+ years experience (5+ years experience highly preferred) in research administration, knowledge mobilization, and/or communications within a higher education setting.
- Exceptional oral communication skills and practiced in developing and delivering engaging training sessions and consultations.
- Excellent written communication skills and experienced in creating cogent and compelling resources and reports.
- Superior interpersonal skills, capacity to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with researchers, and ability to provide critical and formative feedback.
- Takes initiative to build and maintain collaborative working relationships with researchers and members of other service units to create a community of practice.
- Capacity to work both independently and collaboratively while managing and adjusting a workflow with multiple demands and deadlines.
- Excels in working within a distributed team environment and takes initiative to collaborate and connect in a near virtual workplace.
- Experience in digital mobilization platforms, open data, data analytics, and knowledge of research information management systems an asset.
