Job Title: Lead Courseware Development
Position Reports to: Head of Training Development
Job Location: Ottawa or Remote
Salary: $90,000 - $105,000 CAD
SkyAlyne is a proud partnership between Canadian aviation and defence leaders, CAE and KF Aerospace, formed to provide a truly Canadian solution for Canada’s Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) Program, Canada’s next-generation military aircrew training program.
SkyAlyne has been selected as contractor for the FAcT Program, a 25 year program valued at approximately $10 billion. The program will be managed from the National Capital Region (Ottawa), with three operational locations: Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan; Southport (Portage la Prairie), Manitoba; and Winnipeg, Manitoba.
The scope of the FAcT Program contract includes all training and in-service support requirements needed to prepare Pilots, Air Combat Systems Officers, and Airborne Electronic Sensor Operators to meet the future aerospace requirements of the Royal Canadian Air Force. In collaboration with the Government of Canada and several major Canadian subcontractors, SkyAlyne will provide live-flying, simulator and classroom-based training, facilities construction and management, information management and information technology support, site support services, aircraft maintenance and much more.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • University degree (preferably in Adult Learning), Masters in Ed. Tech preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of learning and development experience with a minimum 2 years of experience in courseware development.
  • Strong understanding of adult learning principles, instructional design models, and learning technology trends.
  • Strong understanding of courseware development processes.
  • Strong understanding of eLearning design principles.
  • Track record of designing and implementing successful learning programs, including creating both online and in-person programs.
  • Experience with content creation including development of e-learning modules, training, written guides, and other resources aimed to enhance knowledge, skills, and competencies.
  • Experience in designing and delivering and the learning and development plans that support the job architecture, skill development and career pathways.
  • Experience in building a skill and competency inventory.
  • An understanding of the CFITES process.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and highly effective at developing positive working relationships.
  • Able to take initiative to begin projects and produce high-quality work quickly.
  • Proficient facilitation skills and familiarity with learning tools.
  • Be able to hold a Government of Canada Security Clearance (Secret level).
  • Be able to hold Government of Canada site/information access certifications, including accessing Protected “B” information, Controlled Goods Clearance, and ITAR Clearance.
  • Eligible to work in Canada.
  • Experience in the Defence and Aerospace industries would be an asset.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Fluency in French would be an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the Head of Training Development in the execution of the development of related courseware.
  • Support courseware development activities related to the program.
  • Review courseware deliverables from the subcontractor to ensure compliance with program guidelines and courseware design.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency in development processes.
  • Advise on industry best practices in the development of courseware.
  • Produce supporting documentation related to the courseware design and development process.
  • Participate in regular meetings with internal and external stakeholders to update on progress of program execution.
  • Collaborate with representatives from subcontractors and the RCAF to identify and resolve issues as they surface.
  • Leverage digital tools to track program progress and development activities.
  • Maintain currency in the Learning & Development field.
  • Other duties as assigned.
