Description:

RELEASE DATE:

Thursday 31 October 2024
The Aston School of Computer Science and Digital Technologies is looking for a lecturer in Computer Science with a specific interest in Artificial Intelligence to help reinforce its research and teaching in the area. You will be expected to teach across several areas of the computer science and/or cybersecurity curricula.
Aston University has a very ambitious strategy in digital technologies, which benefits the school directly in both its research and teaching environments, providing exciting opportunities to develop one’s research and teaching career.
The school is experiencing a period of growth in terms of research activity and student recruitment in the digital sciences: computer science, cyber security, artificial intelligence and data science. You will have an opportunity to carry out research either within the school’s environment, or within one of a number of research centres or institutes, depending on the candidate’s specific interests. Centres and institutes include the Sir Peter Rigby Digital Futures Institute (DFI) and the Aston Centre for Artificial Intelligence Research and Application (ACAIRA), but others may be of interest to specific candidates, who are encouraged to explore the University’s website for more information. Candidates with a strong interest in Natural Language Processing might also be interested in Aston’s Institute for Forensic Linguistics.
You will be expected to have an excellent research track record, commensurate with their career stage, and show signs of innovative and independent thinking. You will also been encouraged to actively participate in the development of new and exciting curricula.
For an informal discussion about this position, please contact Professor Damien Foster, d.foster1@aston.ac.uk.
