Description:
WE’D LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU IF YOU HAVE:
- 3-5 years’ experience in the healthcare, or privacy sectors, and familiarity with regulated environments acquired within a company or in private practice
- Bachelor’s degree in civil law (LL.B. or LL.L.) and is a member of the Quebec or Ontario Bar
- Proficient in developing privacy programs within organizations
- Strong legal acumen, fostering collaboration and adept problem-solving skills
- Skilled in writing, negotiating, and managing multiple priorities and files simultaneously
- Effective communicator, adept at fostering relationships with multidisciplinary teams internally and externally, including legal professionals, in corporate settings
- Capable of autonomously developing programs, policies, processes, and other documentation
- Bilingual in French and English, crucial for communication and collaboration with stakeholders across Quebec, Canada, and the United Kingdom via email and telephone
Responsibilities:
YOUR ROLE AS LEGAL COUNSEL, HEALTH AND PRIVACY LAW
Reporting to the Director, Privacy Officer and Counsel, Legal Affairs, the successful candidate will provide support to several departments of the company, including medical operations, government relations, sales, product and technology, human resources and more.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:
- Provide legal opinions and strategic advice to different teams regarding applicable health and privacy laws and regulations
- Maintain advanced knowledge of Canadian health and privacy laws
- Develop legal processes and documentation to enhance privacy and health regulatory compliance
- Support the communications with medical regulatory bodies, provincial and federal governments and relevant interest groups concerning health law matters
- Participate in cross-functional initiatives and projects, such as impact assessments related to new legislation, new service offerings, new products or entering new markets around both health and privacy matters
- Advise on a wide range of commercial agreements involving complex, multi-stakeholder legal issues
- Conduct legal risk assessments relating to proposed business and operational decisions and work with business leaders to mitigate risks to stakeholders around both health and privacy matters
- Provide timely and practical legal advice regarding the company’s day-to-day operations
