Description:
DESCRIPTION:
Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Manager, Career Education and Development will be King’s Subject matter expert on career education co-curricular and curricular experiential learning (including, but not limited to, internships, externships/shadow experiences, the primary point person for the Career Fairs, and other employer engagment event.
The successful candidate will:
- Develop monthly objectives related to career development and experiential learning in line with strategic directions of King’s University College.
- Align and select programs/services to be included in The King’s Promise, Job Shadow Program Framework, working with units from across the College.
- Design and define the yearly outcomes for The King Promise in collaboration with the Dean of Students, Careering Counselling and partners at Western
- Communicate internally with Information Technology Services and Communications on the promotion and marketing of the Programs.
- Provide logistical support for implementation of experiential learning activities in partnership with academic and non-academic units utilizing best practices in community engagement, experiential education, program assessment/evaluation, and risk management.
- Report, maintain, and support existing partnerships between departments and administrative units inside the University, and with community organizations, public agencies, and the private sector, to support and grow experiential learning and other key initiatives at King’s University College.
- Assist with the development of new partnerships and the associated documentation (for example, Memoranda of Understanding) in cooperation with academic units and Enrolment Services.
- Ensure compliance with risk and liability processes and procedures related to student and faculty participation in experiential learning activities.
- Participate in curriculum discussions and modifications, program review, and other quality assurance processes at King’s in collaboration Educational Policy Committee (EPC) through the Dean of Students.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate must have:
- Have a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Masters degree preferred.
- A minimum of three years of previous relevant experience.
- Experience in writing learning outcomes
- Strong written/communication skills
- Background working with technology including design software.
- Knowledge of the theoretical, practical and pedagogical aspects of career education and experiential education.
- Experience in the field of experiential learning (or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience).
- Demonstrated experience in leading mid-large projects or initiatives with multiple stakeholders; project management skills with the ability to formulate, facilitate team progress, and implement project plans to support objectives.
- Knowledge of health and safety requirements for students engaging in experiential education.
- Experience with report-writing, correspondence, and presentations.
- Ability to create clear, concise reports and recommendations regarding research findings.
- Successful candidate will also be innovative, flexible, and adaptable; able to exercise a high level of professionalism; have strong critical thinking and analytical skills; be self-directed/resourceful.
- Must hold a valid passport and driver’s license.
