Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The City of North Vancouver (the City) is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City, and a Prosperous City.
The City is looking for a dynamic individual with exceptional leadership and interpersonal skills to oversee the City’s Facilities Division in this regular full-time exempt role.
REQUIREMENTS
The ideal candidate will possess an undergraduate degree or higher in a relevant discipline (such as Mechanical Engineering, Building Sciences, or Architecture), project management experience and/or certification, and have a minimum of five (5) years related management experience, preferably in a public sector environment. The City are seeking applicants with excellent interpersonal, communication, leadership, budget, and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director, Real Estate, Facilities and Economic Development, the Manager, Civic Facilities’ areas of responsibility will focus on asset management of civic facilities including planning, maintenance and operations of civic buildings and associated grounds; space planning and security; as well as all aspects of capital project delivery. The incumbent will lead the City’s process for long range asset management of the City’s civic facility portfolio including assessing facility condition, budgeting, and implementation, collaborate with other City departments to help manage the City’s properties and real estate holdings, and advise on facilities-related aspects of strategic land acquisition, development, and disposition. The Manager will lead the planning, design, renovation, and redevelopment of civic facilities, including participation in the construction, commissioning, and operational planning of new and renovated facilities. The successful candidate will lead the City’s planning and evaluation of building programming including enabling public access to City services, space planning for efficient and effective staff workspace, addressing security through physical and operational process review. They will develop and oversee planning, maintenance, operation and safety/security programs and services for City facilities and properties, ensuring compliance with custodial, building maintenance, and regulatory requirements and standards and also develop and monitor the Division’s capital and operating budgets, adhering to the City’s financial policies and procedures.
As a key member of the City’s management team, the Manager will participate in various management meetings and committees, including City Council and senior management, and liaise with external agencies. This positions direct reports will include both exempt and bargaining unit staff.
