Description:

BURNCO Rock Products Ltd. (“BURNCO”) is seeking a Manager of Health, Safety & Environment, Canada (“Manager”) who will demonstrate safety leadership by developing and implementing BURNCO’s Health, Safety and Environment ("HSE") programs and implementing and supervising health and safety operations at all Canadian site locations.
The Manager will collaborate with BURNCO’s operations team to align HSE standards, and be active on sites as required to provide visibility and direction, and participate in HSE activities. The Manager will perform periodic HSE inspection audits and produce reports with recommendations and corrective action plans. The Manager is responsible to participate and/or lead Accident and Incident Investigations and make recommendations for effective incident reduction strategies. The Manager will be required to research and develop training courses and materials for BURNCO’s operations staff, as well as prepare reports, statistic charts, graphs and presentation materials. The Manager will participate in auditing activities required for the annual Certificate of Recognition (COR) program and ensure COR compliance. The Manager will participate on industry associations/committees on behalf of BURNCO as required.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT WILL POSSESS THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • A university degree or technical diploma in HSE or a related field;
  • A minimum of 12 to 15 years’ experience in HSE and 5 years’ experience in the construction or oil and gas industry;
  • Designations as a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and Alberta Construction Safety Association (ACSA) auditor or ability to acquire within 1 year.
  • Strong leadership skills with a cooperative and helpful attitude towards colleagues;
  • Proficiency with computer systems and applications including the Microsoft Office Suite;
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal;
  • A commitment to spend at least 50% of the time in the field, actively engaging and influencing frontline personnel to foster a culture of safety excellence and compliance with HSE standards.
  • The ability to conduct business in an ethical manner and build relationships based on collaboration, honesty and respect; and
  • A willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
