Your role and responsibilities:
We are now looking for a new Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team in ABB Oy, IEC LV Motors in Vaasa. In this role you will be creating and executing designs for engineering solutions within the division and your skills and technical expertise will contribute to a variety of design projects. This includes drawings, calculations, bill of materials, engineering instructions and processes. We offer you a challenging position in an order-focused, highly skilled engineering team, responsible for the on-time design of customer-specific IEC low voltage motors.

This position reports to Team Leader, Mechanical Engineering

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Mechanical design of customer-specific, low voltage induction motors
  • Creating order-specific documentation
  • Collaboration with electrical engineers, the factory organization, global sales and other stakeholders
  • Providing post order technical support when needed
  • Supporting the team in other tasks, such as providing training to entry-level team members

Qualifications for the role:

  • B.Sc. or M.Sc. level degree in Mechanical engineering or similar
  • Knowledge of mechanical engineering and tools such as CAD
  • Familiarity with MS Office and SAP
  • Customer oriented personality, team player with the ability to make quick decisions
  • A collaborative and solution-focused approach to work
  • Excellent Finnish and English, both written and spoken
  • Experience in electric drive systems and electric motors is seen as a benefit
  • Industrial application knowledge is seen as a benefit
