We are seeking a Metrology Engineering Lead to join our cutting edge Corporate R&D team. The role involves shaping and implementing metrology strategies across our R&D sites in Belgium & Finland as well as connecting globally to our other business units. Using your proactive nature, you will leverage resources across ASM, follow industry trends, and translate customer demands into growth opportunities. In this position, you will work with leading engineers and scientists, push the boundaries of semiconductor technology, and contribute to innovative research from concept to integration. The role is integral to the development of ALD and epitaxy processes for next-generation integrated device flows.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • PhD degree in relevant engineering or scientific disciplines
  • 5+ years of industrial experience working with metrology, preferable in a leading position
  • Hands-on experience and deep understanding of thin film and material characterization techniques, e.g., XPS, AFM, XRD, XRR, XRF, (VA)SE, RS, FTIR, WCA, SEM/STEM/TEM, EDX
  • Sound understanding of statistical methods utilized in measurement system and data analysis; six sigma certification a plus
  • Understanding of semiconductor devices is a plus

  • Pragmatic and hands-on approach combined with the ability to work independently
  • Ability to grasp the core of the problem quickly, define solution paths and execute
  • Empathic personality who adapts well with different cultures and working styles
  • Curious and flexible mindset
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills both written and oral (our working language is English)

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously shape and develop our metrology strategy and roadmap to ensure capability as well as capacity supporting all R&D teams
  • Drive implementation of metrology solutions across all stakeholders while activating available resources throughout ASM globally to materialize your vision
  • Ensure up-time, function, and accuracy of our metrology tools
  • Educate engineering teams on measurement methods, accurate tool operations, and correct interpretation of measurement results
  • Work side-by-side with all R&D teams to develop most suitable measurement solutions for the problem at hand
  • Support teams on measurement execution
  • Establish yourself as the key metrology expert within ASM and continuously grow your knowledge, staying up-to-date with the latest trends in industry
