Responsibilities:

HE AHA TE TŪRANGA - ABOUT THE ROLE:

Develop confident young New Zealanders who care for the health and wellbeing of themselves and their communities.
This is a fantastic permanent part time role. There’s great flexibility to plan and schedule your own working week of 4 days (32hrs). Programme delivery will need be within school opening hours, however, any planning, preparation, and admin can be done at a time to suit you.
Our Community Education team provides learning experiences for primary and intermediate school-aged children to empower them for life. Community Educators visit schools to offer young people life skills, preparing them for the future. This role will work across the Auckland region, delivering both our Whātuia te Waiora (Weaving Wellbeing) programme, a mental health module for Year 7&8 students as well as St John in Schools first aid training to tamariki of all ages. On average this will be 2 days per programme each week.
With the curriculum already designed, you will be responsible for providing a vibrant, high-energy programme that captures the attention and interest of our tamariki and inspires them to take responsibility for their health and wellbeing and the wellbeing of others.
Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you’ll bring the following skills and experience

  • A passion for working with young people and engaging them in a meaningful way
  • Understanding and appreciation of different cultures and diverse learning styles
  • Genuine interest in developing our tamariki
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills
  • Full NZ driving license
  • Whilst not essential, a basic knowledge of Te Reo Māori is highly desirabl
