The Opportunity
Through strategic partnerships and collaboration, the People Services department plans for all people related operations through the recruitment, development and retention of a high performing and diverse workforce. The People Services Business Partner helps align the organization’s people strategy with its business strategy, acting as a champion of culture, change agent, and strategic partner for the business.
We are looking for an influencer with advisory and communication skills, who promotes consistency of practice yet employs flexibility in their approach to serve business needs. The People Services Business Partner is a critical thinker who can effectively identify client needs, navigating complex people matters and formulate recommendations for leader consideration and action.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support a high performing and competitive organization by:
  • Recruiting and retaining top talent through innovative and inclusive strategies
  • Developing compensation and benefits strategy
  • Implementing rewards and recognition programs that increase business results and employee engagement
  • Championing the organization’s performance management program, including guidance to leaders, performance improvement plans and career development support
  • Helping leaders deal with organizational, people and change related issues
  • Strategic Planning – helping the organization become future ready by:
  • Identifying and supporting learning and development opportunities and programs that align with business objectives
  • Workforce planning – right size, shape, cost, and agility for the future
  • Facilitating the succession planning process
  • Champion company culture and employee experience by:
  • Building strong relationships with your employee group
  • Contributing to culture-related initiatives
  • Implementing and administering employee wellness programs and disability management
  • Use technology to increase efficiency and drive business results:
  • HRIS subject matter expert on talent modules
  • Solid understanding of HRIS core modules (people admin, time capture and schedules)

Qualifications and Experience

EDUCATION:

  • Degree or diploma/certificate from a post-secondary institution
  • Certified Professional in Human Resources (CPHR) designation would be an asset

EXPERIENCE:

  • 4 - 8 years’ experience as a Human Resources generalist
  • Business Partner experience
  • Previous compensation, benefits or payroll experience
  • Experience in the energy industry, with a workforce that includes shift workers an asset
  • Proficient with integrated HRIS systems, Dayforce experience would be an asset

SKILLS:

  • Excellent mentoring and relationship building skills
  • Superior communication and presentation skills
  • Attention to detail, can manage dynamic, constantly evolving portfolio “manage many balls in the air/many moving parts at once”
  • Microsoft Office – advanced skills
  • Business acumen – understanding finance principles, risk and reward and business outcomes
  • Able to work with highly confidential information
