QUALIFICATIONS

  • A diploma in a Pharmacy Assistant or Pharmacy Technician program from a post- secondary school
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience within the last 5 years providing direct patient care as a pharmacy assistant and working in one or more clinical settings such as hospital or community
  • CPR/AED Level C

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • You will be able to obtain a Government Security Clearance at the Reliability level

Responsibilities:

As a Pharmacy Assistant at CFB Edmonton you will have the opportunity to collaborate with both military and civilian healthcare professionals who are focused on providing the very best service to the Canadian Forces. Working in the military pharmacy, a typical day would include assisting in the dispensing and distribution of medication. Duties would include but not be limited to:

  • Receiving prescriptions, ensuring entitlements and updating patient profiles
  • Preparing and packaging prescribed medications, including drugs, ointments and compound medications
  • Assist in the ordering, receiving and distribution of medical supplies to medical units
  • Following establish standards for preparation, storage, labeling and issuing of drug products, including narcotic and controlled drugs
  • Maintaining pharmacy inventory and ensuring stock is available
  • Addressing technical questions and redirecting to appropriate professional for answer
