Description:
POSITION SUMMARY
Applications are invited for the position of Post-Doctoral Researcher in the Centre for Sustainable Fermentation and Bioprocessing Systems for Food and the Bioeconomy (Yeast strain development for Precision Fermentation).
The appointee will join the UCC yeast biotechnology group at UCC, which is based in the School of Microbiology and part of the SUSFERM Fermentation Science Centre. This gives access to a broad range of state of the labs and equipment for synthetic biology, fermentation, and bioprocess development. SUSFERM is also a partner in IBISBA, the European Infrastructure for Industrial Biotechnology. The appointee will work initially on a collaborative project with an industrial partner in the Precision Fermentation space before continuing in the field of yeast strain development for Precision Fermentation applications in the FEDERI project. There is a particular focus in the FEDERI project on the production of aromatic molecules and applicants should consult prior publications from the group in this area. The position would suit an applicant with strong biochemistry and/or molecular biology skills who is interested in integrating strain and bioprocess development. In this regard, the successful candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of scientists and engineers who are committed to developing new biotechnological solutions to address sustainability challenges.

Salary: €44,347 - €50,805 (IUA PD1 Salary Scale)
