ABOUT THE JOB

The postdoctoral researcher position is part of the Finnish Quantum Flagship, which brings together leading quantum experts in physics, computational science, mathematics, nanoscience, nanotechnology, and economics to consolidate and expand Finland’s national ecosystem for quantum technology. Led by Associate Professor Matti Silveri, at the University of Oulu, the research focuses on quantum algorithms, use-cases and error correction for near-term quantum computers.
We are now looking for a talented research-oriented person interested in theoretical and computational research on algorithms and error mitigation for quantum computing use-cases in material science, modeling or quantum chemistry. We aim at implementing and benchmarking the results on the Finnish quantum computers (50 qubit computer becoming operational in 2024-2025), and on available online cloud quantum computers.
The postdoctoral researcher will carry out research work within a research team, publish research results in leading international scientific journals, take part in funding acquisition, contribute in teaching (max 5 % of the total yearly working hours) and supervision. In addition, the postdoctoral research may participate in administrative tasks of the research unit.
