Description:
This is an outstanding opportunity for a senior-level Principal Project Manager / Regulatory and Permitting Consultant looking to advance their career with a global environmental leader, and to make a significant impact in successfully implementing ERM’s global strategy. As a Principal Project Manager / Regulatory and Permitting Consultant, you will act as a leading expert in Canada, with capacity to conduct work in various jurisdictions across the country, primarily in western and northern Canada. The successful applicant will have experience with environmental effects analysis; the applicant must show an interest in applying knowledge and skills to help our clients solve complex challenges in the infrastructure or natural resource development sector—particularly in the renewable energy, transportation, oil and gas, or mining sectors—combined with a demonstrated understanding of applicable provincial/territorial and federal regulatory and permitting requirements. The successful candidate will become a senior member of ERM Canada’s Regulatory and Permitting team and will be connected with ERM’s global team of environmental and social experts.
This posting is designed for a resourceful, motivated person who enjoys problem-solving and leading teams within a challenging and fast-paced multi-stakeholder environment.
QUALIFICATIONS & DESIRABLE SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in environmental sciences, environmental engineering, environmental management, or related field
- 15+ years of experience in environmental consulting, or equivalent industry experience within relevant business sectors
- Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and project management approaches/tools
- Experience and understanding of environmental regulatory requirements for development of capital projects. Experience with the mining sector is an asset
- Excellent writing, communication, organization, and time management skills
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively in teams
- High integrity with negotiating and influencing skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in a demanding work environment
- Experience working and leading as part of an integrated team providing technical deliverables for input into environmental assessment and permit applications
- Experience and confidence to effectively address client needs and develop/ maintain client relationships
- Experience working with the provincial and federal regulatory agencies, Indigenous interests, and the public
- Ability to demonstrate ERM values related to risk management and become a safety ambassador
This is a full-time position. During peak activity, there will be some overtime required, and meetings with clients may not strictly happen between 9-5 as we work with clients in a variety of time zones.
For the Principal Project Manager / Regulatory and Permitting Consultant position, we anticipate the annual base pay of $107,723 – $141,750 CAD. An employee’s pay position within this range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, geographic location, performance, shift, travel requirements, sales or revenue-based metrics, and business or organizational needs. We also may have instances where compensation may be outside of the range, based on the factors noted above. This job is also eligible for an annual discretionary based performance bonus.

Responsibilities:
- Work on multiple projects and serve as Project Manager to ensure deliverables achieve client expectations for scope, budget, schedule, and quality.
- Use project management tools and controls to manage project performance and mitigate risk.
- Liaise with accounting teams to ensure timely submission and payment of client invoices
- Ensure project work is executed safely and all documentation is in place
- Proactively and cooperatively work across ERM teams to secure project team resources
- Contribute to business development of ERM’s service areas. Identify and develop new opportunities, prepare effective proposals, including development of scopes and cost estimates, and take an active leadership role in developing new business with new and existing clients.
- Contribute to overall success of Project Management Team through leading, managing performance, hiring and retention, inspiring and mentoring team members
- Actively contribute to ERM’s project management technical community and collaborate with other ERM global practitioners to execute projects.
- Lead preparation of technical proposals, including development of technical scopes and cost estimates, and participate in business development with existing clients and identified leads.
- Actively embrace and support ERM’s leading health and safety training and workplace environment.
