Professor (W3) of Resilience of Ecosystems (m/w/d)
The University is seeking to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and particularly encourage qualified female scientists to apply for this position. Severely disabled applicants with equal aptitude will be given preferential consideration.
The research of the (Head: Prof. Sommer) is located at the interface of evolutionary ecology, genetics and functional biodiversity research and aims to understand the processes that drive and constrain adaptive evolution to maintain the health of wildlife and ecosystems.
To strengthen these goals, a person with outstanding scientific qualifications and international visibility in the research area of ecosystem resilience (with a zoological focus) is sought. The candidate should taxonomically record species abundance patterns in the context of land use or climate changes and investigate the complex relationships between biodiversity and the environment through modeling and simulations at different spatial and temporal scales. The professorship is expected to play an integrating role within the research focus “”, and be open to collaborations on the thematic foci () of the Department of Biology, and the Faculties of Natural Sciences and Medicine.
In teaching, the professorship will be involved in the Bachelor’s and Master’s degree programs in Biology, particularly in the areas of zoology, animal biodiversity and bioinformatics. Teaching is conducted in German and English. Participation in the academic self-administration of the faculty is required.
Employment requirements are completed university studies as well as teaching aptitude, a doctoral degree and further pertinent scientific achievements (§ 47 LHG).
