Johnson Electric is excited to announce we are now recruiting for a Project Engineer in our Mississauga, Ontario location.
The person in this position is responsible for coordination of the technical quoting process, which includes obtaining supplier quotes through the RFQ process and handling supplier questions relative to the quote packages.
Responsible for Project Engineering of new product development initiatives. By taking a leadership role, working closely with the customer and suppliers as well as internal technical resources, provide an engineering resource to all aspects of product design (CAD) and APQP development, customer liaison, supplier development and management, prototyping, inspection, and testing of automotive oil pump development projects. Contribute to the growth of the business by assisting in the continuous improvement effort of design, analysis and testing capabilities

Responsibilities:

  • Generate RFQ packages in support of new business quoting as well as engineering changes
  • Create quoting summaries to assist in quoting and sourcing decisions
  • Support Supplier technical reviews and quote breakdown summaries
  • Support supplier technical questions relative to the RFQ packages
  • Manage data traceability for quotes relative to RFQ packages
  • Meet with new suppliers and generate supplier profiles to support new supplier approval process
  • Support updates for global APQP system
  • Effective participation in project completion and APQP activities associated with the implementation of new programs including supplier management, capital equipment vendor management, and APQP team management in order to ensure the integrity and robustness of new product launches
  • Direct 3D CAD designers on product models and detailed prints. Independently utilize CAD technologies to develop pump concepts and test apparatus as required
  • Use of DFM, DFA, concurrent Engineering to optimize designs
  • Play a leadership role in the multi-disciplinary approach to product design / development
  • Acquisition of materials and services required within projects
  • Implement test programs: verification and improvement of hydraulic acoustic pump performance
  • Oversee and participate in pump testing programs to ensure quality and accuracy of results
  • Submit written reports to customers detailing results or progress of projects
  • Prototype part and process supervision (internal production, suppliers, inspections)
  • Customer contact / liaison (Verbal, written, presentations)
  • Maintain and improve hardware and software used on systems for design, CAD, and testing
  • Continuous development of leading edge pumping technology
  • Implementation and co-ordination of automotive systems including APQP, PPAP, and QOS as per ISO/IATF 16949 standards as they relate to product development
  • Work in compliance with Stackpole FPS Quality, Safety & Environmental Systems
  • Follow 5S and organizational guidelines
  • Develop CI ideas to improve department and reduce costs
  • Support program managers as require
