Our Engineering area is formed by a consolidated team that works nationally and internationally in the basic and detailed design of renewable energy projects. Its mission is to ensure that these designs meet the highest quality standards to maximize the profitability of our client’s projects.
We also have a specialized team that acts as Owner’s Engineering and supervises the construction and commissioning phases of the projects, reporting the progress of work and ensuring the quality of the work in the different disciplines: civil, electrical and structural engineering.
Enertis is seeking a Project Engineer based in Mexico, to join our fast growing and diverse engineering consulting team. The position will report to the Director of Engineering. This position is client facing and will require some level of travel. This position provides an excellent opportunity to grow as a renewable energy professional. This position will support activities based in the United States, and therefore English proficiency (writing/spoken) is required.

The principal duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform conceptual and detailed electrical engineering design of solar PV projects including rooftop, carport and ground-mounted projects.
  • Verify and comment on electrical designs and/or construction of solar PV energy projects.
  • Analyze and comment on renewable energy project level documentation, including:
  • Interconnection agreements.
  • Power purchase agreements.
  • EPC agreements.
  • O&M agreements.
  • Permitting.
  • Environmental reviews.
  • Produce performing solar resource studies and perform energy production estimates using tools such as PVsyst.
  • Produce energy models on storage projects using tools such as Homer.
  • Perform reviews and comment on equipment used on potential renewable energy projects.
  • Support Project Managers in management of consulting, engineering and testing projects as assigned.
  • Evaluate and understand production data provided by clients and assisting with analyzing said data.
  • Continuous evaluation of process improvement for technical due diligence reports produced.
  • Manage internal/external deadlines and expectations as required.
  • Ensure the highest level of quality assurance and quality control of own work.
  • Other tasks as directed.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Strong analytical and technical as well as problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform under high pressure and dynamic work environment managing multiple project deliverables.
  • Proven experience in solar projects, either in engineering, construction and/or development. Storage experience is a plus.
  • Excellent understanding of solar electrical design and/or construction.
  • Demonstrated ability to assimilate technical and commercial information and translate that into appropriate opinions or assessments.
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple concurrent projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills as well as task prioritization.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite applications.
  • A strong personal commitment to continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Electrical Engineering. Other engineering disciplines will be considered as well.
  • Five to seven years of overall experience in one or more of the following fields:
  • Solar PV design, including residential, commercial or utility scale.
  • Power utility system design.
  • Solar PV field construction.
  • Experience with AutoCAD is highly desirable.
  • Experience with power analysis and electrical design software, such as ETAP or ASPEN is desirable.
  • Familiarity of the NEC code is desirable.
  • Experience with PVsyst and other modeling software such as Homer is a plus.
  • Familiarity with local, state and federal government regulatory requirements for solar development, construction and operation.
