About us
The Faculty of Social Science & Public Policy is one of the largest UK university communities for social research and education. The Faculty has a number of strategically important projects underway which are closely-aligned with the broader King’s Vision 2029 agenda.
About the role
We are looking for a Project Manager to work on a varied and wide-ranging set of key strategic projects. The role holder will work closely with the SSPP Head of Strategic Projects, Director of Operations and the Executive Dean, providing the opportunity to work with and support the SSPP Senior Leadership Team.
We are looking for an ambitious individual with excellent organisational, stakeholder management and communication skills. The post would suit somebody who has experience of effectively managing multiple projects and would like to gain exposure to working with senior leaders and decision makers.
The main purpose of the role will be to:
Day-to-day management of the SSPP project portfolio
Manage multiple key SSPP strategic and education projects
Support the Head of Strategic Projects in implementing a project management framework for the faculty
This role will provide the opportunity to develop a range of project management skills and learn from the wider project management network across Kings College London.
This is currently a hybrid working role where the role holder will spend part of their working week on campus and part of the week working remotely.
This is a full time post (35 hours per week), and you will be offered an indefinite contract.
About you
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. Knowledge of the project management lifecycle and demonstrable experience of planning, delivery, review and closure of multiple projects
2. Experience of producing and maintaining project documentation, including project briefs, business cases, project plans, risk and issue logs and progress reports
3. Experience of stakeholder management and senior-level communication
4. Ability to organise, delegate and plan effectively across competing priorities
5. Excellent communication and presentation skills; demonstrable ability to present information clearly and concisely to a variety of audiences
6. Ability to work on own initiative, prioritise own schedule without supervision and independently resolve problems
7. Highly numerate and ability to show attention to detail and high standards of accuracy in all aspects of work
8. Strong strategic and analytical skills, with the ability to synthesise and interpret information from a variety of sources
9. Excellent IT skills to support project delivery e.g., MS Office suite, SharePoint, MS Teams
10. Demonstrable commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion
Desirable criteria
1. A formal project management qualification
2. Experience of project working in an HE or related context
3. Experience of process review and continuous improvement
