SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Familiarity and proficiency with Microsoft Office suite with mid-level ability in MS Excel.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Use of appropriate PPE, including CSA approved footwear and the use of respirators, where needed. Non-custom hearing and eye protection will be supplied by AEM. AEM will reimburse a portion of the cost of approved safety footwear and custom eye protection in accordance with company policy.
  • Ability to lift/move equipment up to 25Kg (55 lbs.) on occasion.
  • A strong work ethic with a proven positive approach to working with others.
  • Work environment is climate controlled, indoors.
  • Ability to successfully pass the security assessment of employees who need to examine, possess, or transfer controlled goods or technology is required.

Responsibilities:

ROLE OVERVIEW

The QA Inspector Lead is responsible for assisting the QA Director with overseeing the people, processes, and resources of their department. They act as an interface between the QA Director and the QA staff. The QA Inspector Lead is responsible for demonstrating leadership, communicating with employees, and supporting the QA Director in maintaining a safe, efficient, and effective work environment for their department.

WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING

  • Ensure work is suitably planned, assigned, distributed, and understood amongst the employees and schedules are accurately and effectively managed and maintained.
  • Ensure that required documents, material and equipment are available and functional.
  • Identify performance and/or quality issues, resolve with employees as appropriate and bring to the attention of the Director, as needed.
  • Monitor and uphold AEM’s Quality and Safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and/or manage employee performance and escalate feedback to Director.
  • Collaborate with the Supply Chain Department in the purchase of parts/ products (inventory and consumables) and resolving any discrepancies on received items from either Stores or external suppliers.
  • Collaborate with the Department Director in identifying and organizing resources, including labour (e.g., overtime, headcount, etc.), as necessary. Identify opportunities for improvement along with possible solutions.
  • Execute day to day operations and schedule, managing the workflow progress, monitoring priorities and Order Book.
  • Ensure the on-time delivery of products to both internal and external customers.
  • Participate in employee training, evaluations, and performance management, including goal setting and career development discussions.
  • Support and encourage employee participation in engagement, safety and other company training initiatives and programs.
  • Escalate challenges to QA Director and/or Operations Supervisors, when necessary.
  • Participate/ Leads the Department Daily Huddles.
  • Encourage participation and lead in the identifying and execution of continuous improvement ideas and projects in their department.
  • Liaison with other departments as necessary to support company objectives.
  • Provide coverage for Director in case of absence or need for delegation.
  • Act as Subject Matter Expert (SME) and troubleshooting technical issues, as necessary.
  • Maintain Maintenance Records and schedules as needed.
  • Performs In-process and Final Inspections and records appropriate results.
  • Assists QA Manager as required.
  • Complete other tasks/ duties as assigned.
