Job Description
The Quality Lab Technician is responsible for diligently preparing solutions for internal departments, maintaining laboratory documentation and equipment, and performing quality assurance testing, inspections, and analysis of materials and products to ensure compliance with industry regulations and company standards.
Duties & Responsibilities

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Chemistry or equivalent field of study or an adequate combination of Education and Experience to effectively perform the job requirements.
  • 2+ years’ of experience working with chemical solvents in a high-tech manufacturing or industrial environment is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills and strict attention to detail will be keys to success to this role.
  • Knowledge of Malaysia Dangerous Drug Act and Poison Act regulations is an advantage.
  • Quality Focus and Legal Compliance
  • Strong math and analytical skills.
  • Knowledge/Experience in calibration and usage of chemical laboratory equipment and solutions preparation.
  • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practices.
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and internet
  • Knowledge of health and safety issues relating to laboratory work including general health and safety rules, hazard identification, OSHA and safe work practices

• Highly organized with well-developed time management skills. • Strong communication skills, written, read and verbal.

  • Ability to work independently as well as in a team environment.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing demands and conflicting deadlines.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and test solutions for tester calibration, IMS consumables product, and quality testing according to established written work instructions.
  • Calibrate pipettes and other laboratory equipment following established written work instructions.
  • Monitor and record chemical usage and consumption per established written work instructions.
  • Handle poisonous and narcotic chemicals under the supervision of a pharmacist.
  • Monitor and record lab refrigerator and freezer temperatures, as well as environmental humidity and temperature, according to written specifications.
  • Maintain the chemical lab to comply with ESH (Environmental Safety & Health), OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series), and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Prepare, analyze, and participate in troubleshooting quality control process issues.
  • Ensure Process Specifications, SDS, and Equipment folders are up to date.
  • Provide training and guidance to the Manufacturing & Production Team regarding the use of lab equipment.
  • Assist the pharmacist in preparing, testing, and analyzing studies and qualifications related to IMS consumables products.
  • Follow company policies and legislative requirements regarding health and safety, including the use, care, and storage of personal protective equipment.
  • Align with the Smiths Excellence System vision and strategy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
