One of the first urban Conservation Corps in the country, the San Jose Conservation Corps + Charter School was founded in 1987 to empower young adults aged 18 to 27 ("Corpsmembers") to upskill themselves and advance their career in conservation and green spaces. Position Summary: The Corpsmember Development (CMD) Coordinator is responsible for managing the education and development for a caseload of 30-50 corpsmembers. Primary responsibilities include instructing and facilitating training, coordinating training and educational opportunities with partner organizations, and providing individualized career counseling support to young adults. The CMD Coordinator will also maintain accurate training data records, update curriculum to incorporate industry best practices and program evaluation results, and work closely with external training providers. The CMD Coordinator supports Corpsmembers with career exploration through regular in-person check-ins to support career and post-corps goal setting. As Corpsmembers graduate from the program, the CMD Coordinator will conduct follow-up meetings to verify placement and provide bridge support. In addition to strong communication and organizational skills, the CMD Coordinator should maintain professionalism at all times while working with various department staff (such as job-training, charter school, etc.) and external partners. Applicants should be comfortable taking a leadership role and have prior experience in training development, facilitation or public speaking, youth development, mentorship, postsecondary education, data tracking, time management, and critical thinking. Job Duties: Corpsmember Caseload + Support Responsible for ensuring each corpsmember completes a training portfolio during their program year Conduct regular in-person check-ins with corpsmembers to build rapport and provide individualized career support Collect employment and post-secondary verification data from job-training graduates Conduct post-program follow ups to provide bridge support for corpsmembers after their graduation Instruction + Curriculum Development Act as the lead instructor and regularly lead training for corpsmembers in topics such as: orientation, safety training (CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens), environmental education, career readiness, leadership and professional development Develop new job training and educational curriculum as needed for orientation, new initiatives, contracts, and grants Strive to learn continuously and implement new and best practices in training instruction and education Proofread and edit training curriculum documents for consistency and clarity Demonstrate leadership, mentorship, and a positive attitude Supervise corpsmembers participating in training activities with external partners Communication + Collaboration Work with external partners to schedule and coordinate training, certification, and educational opportunities for corpsmembers as needed Plan tours, field trips, and speaker events that provide opportunities for corpsmembers to explore desired career pathways Work collaboratively with various department staff on the development of program materials and implementation of training programs and events Connect corpsmembers to the Support Services Department as needed to remove barriers for successful work and career transition Report any needs to department managers and directors Training Data Management + Reporting Maintain records of training certificates and rosters, and distribute to participants as needed Utilize a variety of training platforms to generate consistent reports and assign training to corpsmembers as needed.
