The Ghent Gravity Group (https://gravity.ugent.be/) is looking for a responsible person for setting up and maintaining the 2 µm laser optics lab for gravitational-wave (GW) instrumentation funded by the FWO Integrated Research Infrastructure (IRI) project “Essential Technologies for the Einstein Telescope” for the period September 2024 – March 2025. In addition to setting up and maintaining the laboratory, you will also be responsible for other experimental activities of the group. You will take part in project planning (including grant proposals), coordination with the local mechanical and electronics workshops, and student supervision (PhD, masters, and bachelor students). You will be the main point of contact between the group and the ETpathfinder consortium. In addition, you are expected to liaise with similar research groups in VUB and UAntwerpen. Involvement in Virgo and ET activities will also be counted.
You will work in Campus Proeftuin of Ghent University. You will travel to the ETpathfinder in Maastricht, and to other relevant facilities. Travel to workshops and conferences will be possible.
