The basics of this position:
The Secretary provides efficient secretarial support, reception, and communication services to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent with 0 - 1 years of related experience
  • Must pass a skills assessment at the basic level of proficiency in Microsoft Office

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Proficiency with the Banner Operating System. Ability to multitask, detail oriented, organized, follows through on assignments/tasks in a timely manner, excellent written and communications skills. Able to work in a diverse setting.

Responsibilities:

  • Types and edits departmental materials.Prepares necessary pay documents and forms.Maintains appointment and meeting calendars.Answers telephone calls, screens and refers calls, and takes messages; provides information as appropriate.Composes correspondence with or without notes.Assembles various records to prepare periodic reports.Completes necessary forms to order and pay for items; maintains inventory of forms and supplies.Maintains a filing system, including confidential files.Uses telephone, PC, calculator, copier, scanner, printers, and other current office equipment.Receives, opens, and distributes incoming mail.May record budget transactions and monitor budget for the department, calling attention to irregularities as indicated.May make travel arrangements.May function as department timekeeper.Performs other job duties as assigned.
