BrightPath Early Learning (BrightPath) operates and develops quality based childcare centers across North America. BrightPath is committed to be an innovative provider of early learning and childcare services and is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its finance team in Etobicoke, ON.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Senior Accountant reports to the Accounting Manager and is critical to the delivery of financial information on a timely basis. Candidates must possess strong organization and analytical skills in a position that is very detail oriented. The successful candidate will also be able to communicate clearly and concisely with various internal departments as well as external stakeholders. This is a deadline driven role and problem-solving skills, along with the ability to work well independently and collaboratively in a team environment are a must-have.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Graduated from an accredited university with a degree in accounting or finance
  • 2-4 years plus of experience working in a similar accounting role
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Experience working with ERP software. Knowledge of NetSuite and ADP is an asset
  • Enjoys fast-paced work environment; able to multi-task while working with tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrate initiative and a high degree of accuracy in executing tasks; and
  • Commitment to continuous learning and process improvement.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintain and reconcile balance sheet accounts
  • Assist in the preparation of income statement reporting and analysis
  • Take ownership of and complete monthly accounting entries in areas such as prepaids, accruals, payroll, revenue, fixed assets etc.
  • Prepare and maintain financial records and working papers in support of transactions
  • Assist in the month-end accounting close process
  • Collaborate with team and other departments on various finance projects
  • Monitor banking activities for multiple entities to find irregularities and process appropriate journal entries
  • Provide audit support
  • Support government funding accounting as needed
  • Ad-hoc accounting duties as assigned
