SUMMARY:

Under the joint direction of the Associate Vice President of Development, and the Debbie and Stanley Lefkowitz ’65 Director of Athletics, the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Development will serve as the senior development officer and is charged with leadership, direction, and coordination for the management of all advancement activities for the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. Provides strategic oversight to the following advancement programs: annual fund, major gifts, leadership gifts, alumni relations, the Owl Club, and priority and premium seating programs. Manages and directs fundraising activities including identifying, cultivating, and soliciting annual and major gifts and assisting in the development of publications that will communicate to prospective donors pertaining to the need to support Intercollegiate Athletics. Additionally, the Sr. Associate Athletics Director will cultivate and manage relationships with current and prospective donors, including identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding those with capacity for gifts of $75,000 and higher.
This individual will work closely with Institutional Advancement central operations and the Athletics leadership team to leverage the resources available to increase the dollars and donor base for the unit. Serving as a liaison between both, this individual will align unit-based priorities with those of institutional leadership. The position will serve on the VP & Director of Athletics senior staff and will create and implement strategies designed to support the funding of the department’s priorities. Regularly review staffing structure, roles and responsibilities for a team to ensure proper allocation of staff resources.
As an advisor and liaison to the Associate Vice President of Development & Director of Athletics, the incumbent will have a record of success in higher education fundraising and experience and responsibilities and achievements in the administration of Division I intercollegiate athletics within a comprehensive University or equivalent experience with a sports organization or entity. Sr. Associate Athletics Director for Advancement will work closely with the Associate Vice President & Vice President and Director of Athletics to encourage support for the University and athletics programs among a broad range of internal and external stakeholders including students, faculty, staff, alumni, letter winners, parents, donors, business, community leaders, and other supporters of Temple University.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to leading the athletics development office to ensure university fundraising goals for athletics are met and/or exceeded. This will require developing fundraising goals and objectives that are in-line with Temple University and Athletics expectations. The Sr. Associate Athletics Director will achieve this by integrating and engaging key external and internal stakeholders, including students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, donors and a broad range of internal and external stakeholders into the programs and activities of the University.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor’s degree and at least 7 years of directly related fundraising experience. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
