Description:

We are looking for a dynamic Senior Civil/Mechanical Design Engineer to supplement the skillset and offering of the pump station and pipeline systems engineering team at the Knight Piésold office in Durban.
The successful candidate will not be required to relocate to KZN, but it is preferable to operate from a Knight Piésold office within South Africa and visit the Durban office once a month.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Pr.Eng in Civil or Mechanical Engineering is a must.
  • 5 to 8 years of experience post B.Eng qualification.
  • A minimum of 4 years of specialized experience in pumping and pipeline system engineering designs.
  • Previous knowledge (or aspirations to develop knowledge) in the specialized field of slurry pipeline design for tailings projects.
  • Proficiency in using hydraulic surge analysis software (such as Bentley Hammer) will be of value.
  • Experience developing cost estimates for projects.
  • Experience in INVENTOR software will be a distinct advantage.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and AutoCAD.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to travel locally and abroad when required.

Responsibilities:

  • You will be involved in projects for systems for bulk water supply, potable and waste water distribution, long-distance pipelines, boreholes, open pit and mine underground dewatering, tailings slurry pipelines, return water systems, and tailings paste and backfill distribution within mines.
  • Responsible for developing cost estimates for projects and estimates must have considered construction sequencing, material sourcing, and installation for large-scale projects.
  • Assist with the mechanical and civil engineering design, costing, tender documentation, and installation in Durban.
  • Commissioning of various pump stations and pipeline systems across the world for mining and general infrastructure projects.
