The Department of Immunology provides a comprehensive, predominantly outpatient-based clinical service with a focus on primary immunodeficiency diseases (PID) and a growing provision for secondary immunodeficiencies. In addition, the Department provides multiple highly specialist outpatient clinics including chronic granulomatous disease, young adults, complement disorders and assessment plus follow up of haematopoietic stem cell transplant for PID patients. A number of joint clinics are held with respiratory, gastroenterology, hepatology and dermatology colleagues. With Great Ormond Street NHS Foundation Trust the Department forms the UCL Centre of Primary Immunodeficiency, linking clinical and research activities at Great Ormond Street and Royal Free Hospital. In 2009 the Centre received a Jeffrey Modell Foundation award to become an international centre of excellence for Primary Immunodeficiency.
