To manage and undertake a package of civil/highway engineering designs as a member of the design team on the Southampton Highway Strategic Partnership contract.
What you’ll be doing

As a Senior Highway Design Engineer, you will have the following accountabilities:

  • Be responsible for the technical delivery of design works for allocated projects
  • Manage other team members working on allocated projects
  • Work with the Design Manager and Programme Manager in the planning and delivery of design work
  • Prepare programme information for design projects and liaise with the programme coordinator to incorporate this information in project and the integrated programme
  • Prepare estimates of level of design input for projects and submit to Southampton City Council
  • Deliver design work in line with local and national standards and Balfour Beatty policies and procedures
  • Apply the CDM regulations to all design work and ensure designs meet the requirements and principles of the BBLP safety systems.

Who we’re looking for

You will have the following:

  • Proven Experience utilising software including AutoCad and BIM (Building Information Modelling)
  • Proven experience of applying latest highway design documentation (including LTN1/20) to designs.
  • Experience and understanding of on and off the public highway on construction sites.
  • Experience of managing a programme
  • Experience of NEC Option 3 contract type
  • Design or technical background
  • Good communication and people skills.
