THe Opportunity
The Senior Human Resources Business Partner is a trusted advisor, partnering with our Operations division to support operational and strategic goal achievement. Through proactive HR advice and support, the areas of responsibility span performance management, workplace investigations, industrial relations, workforce planning, employee engagement, remuneration/benefits, training and development and recruitment across the Operations portfolio. Operations includes the Kenworth DAF Bayswater Plant, Quality Assurance, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Planning and Purchasing, which includes a mix of plant operators and office team members. This role is supported by a direct report, HR Advisor who works closely with our production and warehouse facilities, which equates to 40% of our workforce. Our Business Partners work closely with COEs in delivering customer solutions and HR strategy and initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic and operational support to the Operations leadership team with effective advice and guidance for a range of types of roles from plant operators to office team members
  • Coach and guide managers to improve business performance through effective performance management, employee relations, conflict resolution and grievance processes
  • Work closely with management and employees to improve working relationships; collaborate with Ops leaders on the development of effective frameworks to manage productivity, morale, retention and absenteeism
  • Provide guidance to line managers in relation to the interpretation and application of HR Policies and Procedures
  • Discuss, and if necessary, challenge ideas to ensure line managers are acting with the best interests of the wider business
  • Enterprise Bargaining Agreement process negotiation, and be the primary contact for the union
  • Provide guidance on workforce and succession planning, supporting the annual talent management and succession planning process with line managers
  • Support Operations division talent acquisition activities in conjunction with the TA team

Administration to support activities, including employee movement paperwork, offer letters, etc

About You

  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience in a general HR position
  • Ability to build strong relationships with your stakeholder group
  • Strong business acumen and the ability to influence decisions outcomes
  • Problem solving ability and sound decision-making skills
  • Experience in mentoring a direct report including work allocation, coaching, and training
  • Tertiary qualification in Human Resources or related discipline
  • Strong computer literacy and advanced knowledge using Microsoft Office
  • Experience in manufacturing and/or blue collar industry would be beneficial
