The Manitoba Indigenous Reconciliation Secretariat is seeking to fill the position of Senior Policy Advisor to the Deputy Minister.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- Post-secondary education in public administration, political studies, social sciences, Indigenous governance and/or law. A relevant combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
- Experience in policy analysis, strategic planning or program development
- Experience leading complex program/policy using strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- Experience with interpreting legislation, government priorities and financial requirements to provide recommendations to support senior government decision makers. May include consideration of the Financial Administration Act (or other legislation), Throne Speech, Budget documents, General Manual of Administration, the Financial Administration Manual, and Treasury Board Guidelines
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate complex information to a variety of stakeholders
- Strong written communication skills with the ability to conduct research, analysis and provide recommendations on a variety of issues, including the relevance and impact of government policies
- Political acumen demonstrated through experience providing strategic advice to senior leaders on complex and sensitive issues
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of initiative using strong decision-making skills to make sound judgements
- Superior interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish trust and maintain productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure to advance multiple competing priorities to meet workload demands and deadlines
Duties:
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Senior Policy Advisor responds to urgent requests from the Premier, Minister, Deputy Minister and the Department. The Senior Policy Advisor participates in departmental projects and activities and undertakes research, policy analysis on specified issues and coordination support as assigned by the Deputy Minister on issues of cross-divisional and cross-departmental nature, which promote Indigenous nationhood and advance government’s commitment to truth and reconciliation.
