Description:

THE OPPORTUNITY:

TetraTech RPS Energy is adding a Senior/Principal Environmental Consultant - EIA – Offshore Wind to our Marine Consenting team. This role will deliver client projects in the UK and internationally, predominantly for Offshore Wind but also in other offshore/coastal sectors we are involved in.
We operate a hybrid working arrangement and you can be based in Edinburgh, Woking, Chepstow, Aberdeen or London (home working can be considered). We have flexible working opportunities, including part time roles, to ensure a balance of family and working life.
We are at the forefront of the industry - delivering offshore infrastructure projects in complex marine environments including offshore wind farm developments. Our experience includes 20 years working across the UK, wider Europe, Americas, Australia and Asia. You’ll become a member of a deeply experienced marine consenting and environment team who have been selected as the lead Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA) consultant for some of the industry’s major “firsts”. These include the world’s largest offshore wind farms at the point of being constructed: Orsted’s Hornsea One, Two and Three, and Scotland’s largest offshore wind farm SSE’s Berwick Bank.

QUALIFICATIONS:

You’ll have a detailed knowledge of the EIA process on major energy infrastructure projects, ideally coupled with direct experience of the offshore renewables sector. Applicants with experience of working in other offshore industries (e.g., Oil & Gas) or onshore energy infrastructure projects are also welcomed. We’d like you to have:

  • A degree in a relevant environmental subject and potentially with an MSc in a relevant topic e.g. Environmental Impact Assessment or similar
  • Experience of working in a consultancy environment, including experience of managing EIA projects
  • Experience of working as part of a team, including liaising with other technical specialists, e.g. marine processes, underwater noise
  • Experience of working with environmental stakeholders, including regulators and nature conservation bodies
  • The ability to communicate information to a range of audiences, through high quality written work and oral presentations.

Responsibilities:

You’ll work on and manage a range of EIAs on large-scale marine and coastal infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on Offshore Wind, Renewables and Energy Transition, across the UK and Ireland. This role will include:

  • Coordination and delivery of EIAs
  • Marine consents management and compliance
  • Technical review and delivery of reports
  • Building relationships with statutory consultees and other groups/members of the public
  • Helping to steer our clients’ projects through the complexities of marine consenting and environmental assessment
  • Supporting and mentor junior colleagues to build up their skills.
  • Work in a safe manner at all times and report all health and safety incidents and concerns.
