We are part of the Azure networking team responsible for designing, building and operating network connectivity, application load balancing and security. These services include ExpressRoute, VPN, Azure Firewall, Bastion, Application Gateway, Web Application Firewall, Virtual WAN and Virtual Network Functions platform. At the core of these services is a solid SDN and NFV infrastructure that we continuously innovate on to improve agility, reliability and cost effectiveness of our services. Our team’s innovations are well recognized in the cloud and networking industry.
We are looking for a Software Engineer II to join the engineering talent to design, build and operate these hyper-scale services. We own entire services end-to-end from user facing interface to management plane and all the way down to data path implementation. Our team is looking for software engineers who are searching for a challenge to design, implement, and operate large-scale distributed systems in an agile environment.

Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 2+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python
OR equivalent experience

OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience or training
1+ years of software development experience in a networking and/or distributed systems environment

KNOWLEDGE IN ONE OR MORE OF THE FOLLOWING AREAS:

Golang, gRPC and Linux/Unix/Windows systems programming
Distributed Systems
Networking (TCP/IP, UDP, TLS/SSL, HTTP/HTTPS)
RESTful Services
Design & Programming skills
Software Engineering IC3 - The typical base pay range for this role across Canada is CAD $83,600 - CAD $159,600 per year.

Responsibilities
Participate in architecture, design of various components, and ensure a timely execution of the features with high quality.
Own the component end-to-end, including testing, managing cross team dependencies as well as monitoring and alerting for the deployed component.
