Description:
Interior Health is looking for an experienced Specialist, Data Governance to join our team on a full time permanent basis out of our Kelowna location.
Responsibilities:
- Identifies opportunities pertaining to the use of information assets to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in the organization and represent data as a strategic business asset.
- Supports the development and implementation of an enterprise-wide data governance framework, with a focus on improvement of data quality and the protection of sensitive data through modifications to organization behavior policies and standards, principles, governance metrics, processes, related tools, and data architecture.
- Works with leaders to ensure clear accountability for stewardship of IH principal data and information assets and establish consistent data stewardship activities involving data quality, definition, security, privacy, standardization and usage within appropriate roles, department, and subject areas.
- Leads the development of a data quality framework and data management lifecycle processes and policies related to collection, access, usage, storage, transfer, and destruction of data that are critical for optimal use of the organization’s data and information assets.
- Establishes consistent data access controls and practices in an entreprise environment, including data classification, anonymization, role-based personas, and access granting to protect information assets.
- Promotes data literacy through the communication and education of partners using business terms and translates academic parts of the data governance discipline into meaningful content in the business context, targeting training in the capabilities that the workforce needs to be successful.
- Establishes communities of practices, encouraging and supporting the use of data and analytics across all levels of the organization, advocating strong data governance and data practices that lead to high quality data.
- Supports alignment of data governance activities to organizational strategies and priorities, including assessment of data and analytics maturity and related risks associated with organization projects and initiatives.
- Acts as an expert for Data Governance queries, including escalation point for client concerns.
- Works with Data Services and Digital Health other IH staff to support timely, reliable, and consistent data reporting and analysis.
- In alignment with IH’s Occupational Health & Safety Program, employees shall adhere to all Occupational Health and Safety policies and procedures at all times and attend all required training. Employees are responsible to report any identified hazards, unsafe conditions or incidents to the manager or supervisor immediately.
