Description:

We are searching for a Staff Accountant to join our team in the Manufacturing industry, located in San Diego, California, 92126, United States. The Staff Accountant will be responsible for maintaining financial records, processing journal entries, and managing accounts payable and receivable. This role is integral to the smooth operation of our financial department and requires a professional with a keen eye for detail and strong organizational skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the processing of monthly journal entries, including payroll.
  • Collaborate with the Operations Manager to review and reconcile differences between clocked time in accounting software and actual payroll hours.
  • Review and post all daily batches for accounts payable/receivable to the General Ledger.
  • Input new vendors, customers, and employees into the accounting system.
  • Compile and review monthly Cycle Count lists for operations, ensuring system updates and identifying root causes of any shrinkage.
  • Monitor and track fixed asset projects for capitalization.
  • Provide backup for accounts payable/receivable as needed.
  • Train on cost flow in accounting software to provide additional support to Controller and Sales/Operation management team when time permits.
  • Support daily, weekly, and monthly reporting metrics.
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
  • Proven experience in a Staff Accountant role or similar
  • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
  • Experience with Bank Reconciliations
  • Strong understanding of the General Ledger
  • Ability to prepare Journal Entries accurately
  • Experience with Month End Close procedures
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with accounting software and MS Office Suite, particularly Excel
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Knowledge of applicable local, state, and federal rules and laws
  • CPA certification is a plus but not mandatory
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.
